Straight from the armpit
of the SoMa to the bowels of the TL, incorrigible retro-electro vinyl addict DJ Bus Station John ("Trash") continues the downward spiral of his career weekly with the "Tube Steak Connection" at Review from Guardian Review from SF Weekly Review from The BAR Review from SF examiner The Hip List By Bill Picture | Staff Writer Published on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 Bus Station John and his too-provocative-to-name-here party take over dodgy little tranny roost Aunt Charlie's -- host of fabulous, lowest-brow drag shows on weekends -- in one of S.F.'s sketchiest but most colorful 'hoods every Thursday to give alt-queers an edgier alternative to the homogenized gay goings-on in The Castro and the now disappointingly tame South of Market cruise bars. Trash's former resident DJ promises "super-cheap booze (and) even cheaper boys," spinning vintage Euro synth-disco and high-energy bathhouse classics, or, as it says on the flyer, "retro-homo electro-disco" for hot and scruffy twenty- and thirty-somethings to drink up and pick up to. Aunt Charlie's Lounge, 133 Turk St., San Francisco. Cover is $3. Call (415) 441-2922 or visit www.auntcharlieslounge.com. -- Bill Picture |
